FROM NWS Shreveport ( Keith Stellman)

Saturday could be a little rough across the region in some areas, especially areas north and west.

Summary:

  • The frontal boundary located along the southern tier of counties…Angelina to Natchitoches… earlier today is expected to lift back north later tonight...and this may set off additional convection toward morning...mainly in the northern portion of the area.
  • Some of the storms near Dallas now are part of this northward return.
  • A strong short wave which we have been talking about all week will be approaching from the northwest on Saturday...and should interact with the old boundary by afternoon...triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms.
  • Some of the storms could be strong to severe...with hail and high winds the main concerns. The attached graphic named severe.png shows the area of concern with regards to severe weather.
  • Localized flash flooding will also be a concern with the wet ground and high river levels. Some areas especially north of I-20 and mainly along the I-30 corridor could see 2-3 inches of additional rainfall by Sunday Morning.
