From NWS Shreveport

We have issued a Flash Flood Watch through Sunday morning for the possibility of localized heavy rain this weekend.

Synopsis
A very large and slow moving upper level low has all but parked over the Southern Rockies. As a result, disturbances will rotate around the low and trigger several rounds of heavy rainfall. The first of which moving through now is merely a primer which has dropped up to 3 inches across some portions of east Texas. Due to the slow moving nature of the upper low, the proximity of the warm front to us which is forecast to hang up along the I20 corridor, and the duration we will see rain...some areas may receive 6 inches or more by Sunday.

We will likely see another heavy round of storms overnight tonight (Friday) and then again tomorrow (Saturday). Some storms tomorrow will have the potential to be severe and the storm prediction center has placed us in a slight risk as a result. This threat will be mainly in the afternoon with hail and wind being the main threat.

We will take a look at where things are overnight and if need be, we will conduct a conference call tomorrow. Stay tuned as the potential for flash flooding will exist overnight tonight.
